STANDARD DECK
These pictures illustrate the Extended deck option. The option is about appearance, some canoes just look good with the deck extended. Canoes with Standard deck are shown above. In a standard decked canoe the deck is brought up to the internal stem which can be clearly seen. Brass stem band is bent over the bow and screwed to the deck. Extended decks, shown on the right fit over the internal stem and the outwales are extended to a point beyond the recurve. Brass stem band is finished under the gunnels. Typically, white cedar canoes are always made with a standard deck. |
